Last month on Canada AM I did a segment on
webcam magic through an emerging technology called augmented reality. Users print off a special barcode and hold it up in front of their webcam for an illusion where a 3D object seems to appear in the real world. The United States Postal Service has joined in by using the technology for a
virtual box simulator. Users hold up the special code to their webcams to access a 3D model of the different shipment boxes available. The rendered models are transparent, so you can take the item you're looking tyo send and place it within the projected illusion to see if it will fit. Neat, huh? There's a
video here you can watch.
