There's a downside to calling your company Zombie Liquorice. "Everyone expects you to have sweets" says Louisa, who runs the booth for the Toronto-based T-Shirt company formed by "Jason & Jeff". Day-glo undead sink there fingers deep into spaghetti entrails that streak through the air like party streamers. It's as if Iron Maiden made an album for skateboarders or the living dead rose up to create their own graffiti-inspired street art. Louisa tells me the intense zombiewear has a very creative following on Facebook where fans were asked to come up with descriptions of their brand's style. The hands-down favourite is "badassiest neuvo gore-porn clothing this side of the Mississippi".

Co-Creator Jeff shows off the new reprint of "Gut Eater 2"

Fan Expo's horror-themed section is always the most unpredictable and a favourite of mine for just that reason. Have you ever seen a store quite like The Gemini Co. Inc.? The Brooklyn-based store is equal measure Cabinet of Curiosities and gift shoppe. You'll find recreations of the mummified Fiji mermaid and 2-headed baby skeleton, but also lovely baskets of brain soaps scented with lavender and lime eucalyptus. There's witches teeth jewelry and ballpoint syringes, glitter gourds and and cerebrum candles that float in jars, scented with brandied fig or witch's brew. Purveyor and Curator John Weisgerber may look like he might entrance or bite, but as the artist behind many of these creations, his craft is more creative than witch.
