For those wondering if Bell's new HSPA network would mean the carrier would finally offer Sony Ericsson handsets (and I've gotten your e-mails) the answer seems to be no so far as the first new Sony Ericsson phone coming to Canada this year, the Xperia X10, will be a Rogers exclusive. In fact, in a nice twist, the phone will launch here in Canada before the US. Details on price and availability will be given at launch.

Xperia X10 is a touchscreen smartphone that, similar to the original Xperia, will focus on offering unique visual techniques for displaying and aggregating your content. This involves two special applications; Mediascape which allows you to swipe through your media content through a set of different views, organizing music by album art of infinite play lists, for example. Timescape displays your social content from Twitter and Facebook as stacks of 3D tiles that represent events and updates. The stacks help create a timeline so you can navigate from the most current messages to the past. Similar to the Palm Pre, the Xperia 10 will aggregate your communications with one person across multiple applications into one view, so that if the person you are chatting with on one app signs out, it can recommend another app you can use to re-connect and follow them as they go mobile. More details to come.
