Rogers Wireless says they have started to roll out a new wireless internet service that will offer speeds of 21 Mbps, up from the 7.1 Mbps service they introduced last year. The High Speed Access Packet Plus (HSPA+) network will begin its launch in the Greater Toronto Area starting in August and then, over the course of the following months, will be added to additional cities across the country.
"With the exponential growth of smartphones, application stores, mobile Internet sticks and embedded laptops and netbooks, Canadians are embracing wireless data and services like never before," said Rob Bruce, President,Rogers Wireless. He promises that the new upgrade will "enable us to support more customers with the most innovative mobile services well into the future, while our customers will experience mobile broadband at speeds like what they experience at home and at work."the c
To match the new network, the carrier will also launch an updated 21 Mbps Internet Stick, to be made available in "the same time frame" as the network itself.
