There are few institutions in Canada that you can genuinely trust to recycle your old consumer electronics and GEEP (Global Electric Electronic Processing Inc.) is one of them. Subsidized by manufacturers Sony and Samsung, the company offers a closed loop system where their facility in Canada safely destroys end-of-life electronics with an incineration-free, computer controlled process that audits every element and performs refurbishing where possible. They operate a network of collection depots under their e-colleX program and today have announced an alliance with Réseau Québécois des CFER that will add more collection points within Quebec. These new locations will be available to Citizens, municipalities, and Regional County Municipalities as a place where they can take their Samsung and Sony-branded electronics to for disposal, at no cost (because Sony and Samsung are covering the expense). New locations include Asbestos, Drummondville, Lachute, Longueuil, Montreal, Rouyn-Noranda, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Saint-Raphaël, Sorel, and Victoriaville. For additional country-wide locations check out this list on Samsung's website and on Sony's website here

Here's footage of computer hard drives being destroyed through GEEP's shredder, assuring that there will be no unwanted data recovery.
