Missing In Canada is a weekly feature where I will profile gadgets from other countries, consumer items that aren’t available here and (except for rare import shoppes) probably never will be.

A gemstone boutique in France has taken it upon themselves to create their own limited edition version of RIM's BlackBerry Bold, adorning it with a lavish amount of diamonds, white gold, and exotic animal skins. Diamondine's BlackBerry Bold Tellor features 205 round diamonds in a brilliant cut (a total weight of 2.50 carats) that decorate the bottom panel, just below the keyboard, with sections of the chassis itself redone in white gold. The back hull can be covered in a selection of exotic animal skins including ostrich, stingray, alligator, or lizard all available in different colours. From there the back casing is paved with white gold again and a custom arrangement of round diamonds is added to form letters or symbols. Purchasers can choose to have their initials added or something decorative like a celtic cross or skull, the two examples given. Since this is France we're talking about, purchasers can also choose to swap out the QWERTY keyboard for an AZERTY one instead.

Diamondine is only producing 50 Tellor Bolds, each with an engraved number and a starting price of €8,000 ($13,478 CAD), with a one month waiting list and a one year insurance plan for theft and breakage.

The name Tellor is Diamondine's own brand and the BlackBerry Bold is the second handset to be given their lavish treatment. The Nokia 8800 Arte is also available as a limited edition Tellor, with 180 round diamonds in a brilliant cut (a total weight of 2.00 carats) and white gold sections of the chassis. It comes with a Shagreen leather backing and is also limited to just 50 units, but priced even higher at €12,000 ($20,217 CAD).
