At first glance it seems like another annoying fanboy review of Avatar on YouTube. A teenager named Greg sits in his bedroom, surrounded by movie posters, his Mom screaming at him from beyond the door while he discusses the "Awesomeness" of the movie's "robots with little people inside", but watch and you'll see that the teenager is actually part-dog. The mottled skin, the floppy ears, the flat nose, only three fingers on each hand. No wonder he hates Avatar's "tree-hugging, hippie cats". Since it was posted on YouTube three days ago, it has ignited the online computer graphics community who are aghast at the quality of the special effects. Is it motion-capture? Is is animated? Is this an amateur effort or something someone from one of the big special effects companies have done on their spare time? Is it a piece of viral marketing? CGSociety says "Apparently it is not from a WETA employee".

If it is from an amateur animator, then this is exactly the kind of move that can score a job with James Cameron. After the release of Aliens, unemployed film school graduate Van Ling contacted Cameron's production company about a Power Loader suit he had built in his own garage for Halloween. It was a seven and a half foot high, fully mobile, walking suit. Cameron and his crew were so impressed by the quality of his work that gave Ling Ripley's costume from the film to wear for a Halloween costume party (he took first place) and then hired him as a researcher for The Abyss.

If the creator of "GregMutt" isn't already working in the film industry, he/she will be very soon.  One offer has already been posted on GregMutt's YouTube channel "

Come work for us in London :-)Send your reel to Double Negative. Not kidding here."
