The first full-blown Augmented Reality video game finally arrives as a promotion for Honey Nut Cheerios. The idea is to take the back of your cereal box and hold it up to your webcam at the HoneyWay Train page. The box will then appear to open, spilling cheerios all over, and a 3D game world will emerge from within. By holding the box like a steering wheel you can then tilt it to control the honeybee during flight as he takes on a wild west challenge. The Honey Express train is in trouble and to rescue it you'll need to dodge cacti, boulders, and bandits and successfully defeat a big boss battle at the end. If you don't have one of the specially-marked cereal boxes, you can simply print off the pattern here and hold it up to your webcam instead. Although the controls are a bit clumsy at first, the 3D graphics and sound make for a fun experience and show how this technology is quickly improving.
