Google Maps With Navigation version 4.2 is now available for Android-powered handsets as a free download from the Android Market app store in Canada as well as ten other countries. The app uses your phone's internet-connected GPS and Google Maps to offer voice-guided, turn-by-turn navigation. You can search for directions by voice, simply speaking into your phone, and it pulls up the latest results, including traffic data, from the internet for the most recent data. You can choose to view the basic map views or use Satellite imagery or even choose to use Street View so you can literally see where you're supposed to go and what your destination will look like. And this being Google, when your route is displayed, you can perform a search for points of interest along that route. Only smartphones running Android version 1.6 of higher are compatible and only those running version 2.0 will have the Search By Voice feature. You can watch a demonstration of the software in action
