Well I, for one, hope it'll be an E-ink device (Like the Kindle and Sony Reader) and have full support for external docs and pdfs. My old Tungsten E2 is starting to die after all of these years, and its been my ebook device for years.

I hope that they support other ereaders, even if they don't sell them.

I already paid $230 for an eink reader and if Indigo doesn't support it through, say, ePub or Adobe Digital Editions, I'll stick to buying through Fictionwise or BooksOnBoard.

I'd like to see Indigo encouraging impulse purchasing on this new device. So, I want a Kindle-like experience, i.e. Indigo cover the cost of wireless buying making the experience timely and seamless. Also, if Indigo wants to take business away from every other ebook seller make their device capable of reading ebooks in the other formats that ebooks are sold: ePub, Sony eReader, Mobipocket and eReader. If they do these two things Indigo will become a "gazzillionaire" and be recognized around the world as "the" leader, bar none, in the field of Book eRetailing. I wish them luck.

The thing I dislike about ShortCovers, is that so far I am 4 for 4 on downloading sample chapters of books I would have purchased, only to discover that they aren't available for online/ebook purchase.

My main concern is whether the stories we’ve read on the net are actually true, hopefully they are. Since these reports appeared online I’ve gone to 2 Chapter’s locations to inquire about Indigo’s ereader program and so far the only answers I’ve gotten from their employees has either been we heard about it through the net and only know what we have read there or they didn’t even know Indigo was considering launching a ebook reader program. I highly doubt the ereader program will be launched as early as next year for the simple reason almost nobody seems to even know about it.

Another concern I have is what reader Indigo will go with when they finally launch. I recently went to the Sony Store at my local mall and tested out both of Sony’s readers and was far from impressed. Not only was it slow and cumbersome to use but in a span of 20 minutes using sample files the PR 505 reader froze up on me twice. If I’m going to spend 300 dollars on a reader I shouldn’t have to worry about the hardware freezing up on me nor should I have to wait 4 to 5 seconds for a simple page flip nor should I have to wait 45 seconds for a simple 30 page book excerpt to load up. Hopefully the future Indigo reader won’t be a flawed as the Sony readers.

Make sure the eReader can read, not books on Shortcovers, but all the other important retailer formats: ePub, Sony eReaders', eReader and Mobipocket. If they do this consumers the world over will be ecstatic. Indigo will become a "gazzillionaire" and be the envy of all the other eBook seller. As a Canadian I wish them luck.

I sure hope Indigo does this right. Namely, encourage impulse buying like Amazon by covering the cost of timeless/seamless purchasing. And, most importantly, make sure this new eReader is capable of reading all the important formats (in addition to Shortcovers): ePub, Sony eReader’s, Mobipocket and eReader. If Indigo does these two things they will dominate the ebook market. As a Canadian I wish them luck. Afterwards, we can say au revoir to Kindle — they will have missed their chance.
