Since their experimental introduction into theatres this past summer, D-Box Motion Chairs, which shift, move, and vibrate in sync with the action on-screen, have been installed into thirteen cinemaplexes across Canada and the US. Theatre owners looking to get the same kind of box office returns that IMAX have brought them began by trying out the chairs, first installing just thirty-seven of the chairs to see what the reaction would be like and then, based on positive feedback, expanded that a total of 318 chairs by the end of the year. Quebec-based D-Box says that more than 50,000 people paid to watch movies like the most recent Harry Potter with added motion. The next film slated for a D-Box release is the upcoming The Book Of Eli starring Denzel Washington and Gary Oldman.
