This week on Canada AM the show is looking at ways to help reduce stress, one of which is to take in some classical music. Offering performances from Placido Domingo, Renee Fleming, Carlos Acosta, Pina Bausch, Sarah Brightman, ABBA, and others, ClassicalTV is a new source of free online music videos for the classical music fan. Grouped into four main categories, the collection covers Opera, Dance, Classical Music, and Jazz and features content from the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Bolshoi, Mariinsky Theatre St. Petersburg, Paris Opera, Dutch National Ballet and English National Opera. The clips themselves are presented using Microsoft's Silverlight technology, which means you'll need to download and install their plug-in for the videos to play. In addition to the supply of free video clips, the site has partnered with the Met to offer a selection of their performances in High-Definition for $10 US, the first of which is Salome. Once you purchase access to the program, you can watch it during your leisure for 72 hours after. So far the collection offered is quite small, but that should grow as the week continues.
