Go The F To Sleep

Audio book seller Audible.com is often at a struggle to encourage iTunes users to try out their catalog of voiced novels and narrated biographies, but this week has scored a promotion that is sure have frustrated parents around the globe signing up for an account. For a limited time their online store is offering a free download of Adam Mansbach's viral hit "Go the F--k to Sleep" as voiced by actor Samuel L. Jackson. A parody of the children's books often read by parents to their energetic kids, the book includes the same style of illustrations and rhyming sentences, but with the coarse language and expressions some parents might be thinking when feeling pushed to the edge. Concerns from family groups combined with a leaked .PDF copy of the original book have assured it's status as a major hit and despite it's easy availability, it's still become a top-seller for Amazon.

Jackson, best known for delivering performances of great vengeance and furious anger in films like Pulp Fiction, begins the reading by relaying his own frustrations as a parent. "Everyone tells you that reading books will put kids to sleep, but, it never works" he shares on the recording. Avant-garde filmmaker Werner Herzog has also been tapped to record a reading of the book too, a indicator of just how this might become a big money-maker for author Manbach. His book may be available illegitimately through file-sharing networks and free audible promotions, but there will always be a hunger for someone to offer a new take on the adult-themed humour book for parents.
