I love it when the internet is used to give open access to historical materials that have previously been available only yo those with connections and by appointment only. The British Film Institute YouTube Channel is an excellent example, offering over 200 early historical films dating back to the early 1890's, to the very birth of motion pictures themselves. Many of the clips offer documentary looks at early British life and some offer early glimpses of experimental uses of film cameras including the first close-up, the view from the front of a moving train, and this 1910 clip I've chosen below of a housefly performing acrobatic tricks. Watch as it juggles a blade of grass, a cork, even a miniature dumb bell all while perched on its back on the end of a match. ,
