Missing In Canada is a weekly feature where I will profile gadgets from other countries, consumer items that aren’t available here and (except for rare import shoppes) probably never will be.

To celebrate the 75th birthday of celebrated conductor Helmuth Rilling, Hänssler Classic has created this limited edition gift set featuring a 120 GB iPod Classic pre-loaded with the Edition Bachakademie, a 175 hours celebration of Johann Sebastian Bach's works originally released over 172 CDs in 2000 as part of Bach's 250th birthday celebration. Conductor Rilling is joined by Thomas Quasthoff, Christoph Prégardien, Christine Schäfer along with many soloists, ensembles, choirs, and orchestras, all in 128kb AAC digital sound. The boxed set also includes three back-up DVDs in case the iPod should be damaged or the songs lost.

When Hänssler Classic first released the set in Europe this past summer it included an 80 GB iPod Classic, now for the holidays they have upgraded the collection to a 120 GB iPod Classic, leaving 63 GB of free space for you to add more content.

Unfortunately the BachPod, or iBach as I like to call it, is only available in Europe where it sells for £499. You can find it at Passionato, a DRM-Free online classical music store which itself is a service sadly missing here in Canada.
