”Look"Eager to beat the big wireless and broadcast providers to the punch, Canadian internet and television services provider Look has announced that they have partnered up with Motorola to test out a 4G data service from their head offices in Milton, Ontario. The faster high speed internet service is one that many companies are investing to replace current 3G services being offered with devices like the iPhone 3G and BlackBerry Bold as the demand for stronger data connections continues to grow. Bell and Telus recently announced changes to their own networks in preparation towards the shift to 4G after 2010. The test that is being performed now by Look and Motorola in Milton is a WiMAX IEEE 802.16e-Wave2 trial that will allow the new wireless service to be used to deliver better performance with broadcast television, broadband internet, and VOIP services. Using Motorola's latest WiMAX equipment, Look will be able to blanket an entire city with the service. Look reports that those with devices capable of receiving a WiMAX signal, including mobile handhelds, PCMCIA cards, USB dongles and laptop computers can expect the same level of service as they are getting at home through DSL or broadband connections. Even while traveling along a highway, users can expect 6 Megabits per second.
