As with Sony's earlier recall(s), the concern here is of a possible fire and burn hazard. Dell Canada estimates that, based on the model numbers involved, there are only 300 Dell notebook computers affected worldwide in the new recall. The battery packs in question were manufactured by Sony on Nov. 9, 2004 and April 11, 2005 and in addition to being shipped as part of new systems, might also have been offered as service replacements.

”Dell Both the 2006 Dell battery recall and today's Dell battery recall are being covered by DellBatteryProgram.com. Customers can check to see if their battery packs have a matching model number and then can use the contact information provided to get a replacement, no charge.
