World Cyber Games” height=Professional video game players from across Canada will be gathering this weekend in Montreal to compete for the right to represent Canada in the World Cyber Games, the “Olympics of video games” in Monza, Italy in October where the prizes have reached $400,000 USD.Taking place at La Ronde Six Flags Park, located on Montreal’s Île Sainte-Hélène the action begins on Friday at 7pm and runs until Sunday night. This year’s video game events include old and new titles - Counter-Strike 1.6, Dawn of War: Winter Assault, WarCraft III: The Frozen Throne and StarCraft: Brood War. The new titles include FIFA Soccer 06 as well as Dead or Alive 4 and Project Gotham Racing 3 - both for Xbox 360. Returning Canadian “Cyberathletes” include Matt Stevenson (Team EG) and Nick Perentesis (rS. Testie) and top players that have been brought in for the new titles include Matt Wood (FIFA Soccer 06) and Jonathan Garneau (Warcraft 3).
