”SarahAncestry.ca has used their records to trace back the family tree of US vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin and are making the claim that a section of her heritage can be traced back to St. Catherine's and Kingston here in Ontario. Here's the story as they tell it: " The story begins with her paternal great-great-grandfather Francis (Frank) H Oriel who was born in Kingston, Ontario in May of 1832. His father, Henry Francis Oriel, was born in Norfolk, England circa 1799, later immigrated to Quebec and then he moved to Kingston, Ontario. Frank immigrated to the US in 1851; he was married to an American woman Helen, who later died. He later remarried a woman named Ellen Dee in a ceremony in St. Catharine's, Ontario. They returned to the US to live in Chicago, where Governor Palin's great grandmother Addie (Alice Oriel) was born, along with her sister Nellie Oriel. Alice then married Charles R Heath from Chicago. This connection links Sarah Palin's bloodline directly to Canadian ancestors." The service also traced her roots to Europe, with their report finding that she has" "two maternal great-grandparents born in Germany - Mary Schmolz, born in Frankfurt in 1860 to Carl Schmolz and Mary Schoettle, and Charles Mueller, who travelled to the USA with his wife. Similarly, her maternal ancestors can be traced to Norfolk in the east of England in the early 18th Century. Governor Palin's desire to lead might also run in the family, as another distant relative is Edward Raynsford of Massachusetts, a merchant who claimed descent from Henry III of England, the child king who reigned for 56 years during the 13th Century."
