When the Wright family of Ann Arbor, Michigan began a series of renovations on their 100 year-old home, no one expected the little secrets they'd uncover. Shortly after the first two additions were made, the two girls in the family - Samuelina and Delaney - found two miniature doors hidden along the baseboards, one apparently built right into the fireplace. Although they couldn't at first understand who made or used the doors, in fact it was with some work that they got one of them open, the little world they discovered inside, with small staircases leading to upper apartments and unseen living quarters, quickly suggested they weren't the only tenets in their home. Urban Fairies is a website devoted to the numerous Fairy Doors that have appeared amongst several homes in the Ann Arbor, Michigan region. It includes pictures and stories of the little fairies said to occupy these hidden homes and the encounters and stories shared by children in the community who explore them and wait around them for "sightings", many on hands-and-knees with flashlight in hand.
