First you're shown the glossy, finished photo where the model has perfect skin and body tone, then simply move your mouse's curosor onto the picture to see the shocking original - cellulose, small breasts, gapped teeth, acne, skin creases, etc. Update - Celebrity Retouch Gallery FluidEffect is now back online since this article was first posted. Girl Power This online introduction to the tricks of digitl retouching was created by Sweden's Ministry of Health and Social Affairs for teen girls so they could better understand the unrealistic ideals set by fashion magazines and be able to put such photos in perspective.

FluidEffect This agency's gallery actually has real celebrity before and after photos in it - including the Desperate Housewives, Sarah Jessica-Parker, Mariah Carey and others. After you agree to their disclaimer, click on portfolio then on before/after or composite manipulation. Unlike the other galleries on this list, just moving your cursor over the image won't change it, you have to use the "Click to see before" button.

Kay Design This agency specializes in body shape and its here that bikini and lengerie photo shoots are sent in order to improve bust lines, thighs, body creases, etc. I think you're going to be shocked to see how these bodies exist in real life and it might give a few ideas about taking a modelling career that you might previously thought out of your reach.

Shanzcan Gallery Here is a great example of portrait shots used for big name magazine covers. The changes are more artistic and creative than digital surgery, but an excellent example of just how much doctoring is done with today's magazine covers.

Click and drag the small square to see the before-and-after versions of these professional touch-ups. All the site is full of many "after" celebrity photos, only the pictures of unknown models are used for the before-and-after feature.

Greg Apodaca Greg only has two fashion photos in his portfolio, the rest are product and location retouches, but those two fashion shots are very entertaining. He actually takes the photos and divides them into zoomed sections so you can really see the detailed changes for each body part.

Glen Feron One of the biggest digital surgery agencies, Glen Feron has taken their portfolio offline to relaunch it. This gallery is truly amazing in the way they completely remove, add, insert entire objects into photos. The body sculpting and changes were very impressive too.

Chris Tarantino Chris Tarantino's gallery comes with a slider bar for you to switch the photos back and forth, but more importantly it has a zoom function, allowing you to enlarge every little detail for full scrutiny.

Christiane Beaulieu Canadian artist Christiane Beaulieu offers up a selection of before-and-after headshots. Click on them to see the dramatic changes, from sculpting pursed lips to changing even the look of the purses and fasion accesories themselves.

iWanex Studio may only offer subtle changes in their portfolio of before-and-after touch-ups, a little skin blemish removed here, a jawline tightened up there, they do have some big name celebrities in their examples including Penelope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, and Justin Timberlake.
