”UComing to Canada in mid-May, U.B. Funkeys is a series of collectible figurines that, when connected to your computer through a USB port, unlock an online world filled with casual video games and interactive activities. With their curved teddy bear bodies and themes of anime cuteness, graffiti style, DJ mixing, gas mask fashion, and zombie states, they look an awful lot like the urban vinyl toys sold to adults at stores like Magic Pony or KidRobot, but the Funkeys are made by Mattel-owned Radica Games and aimed at kids ages 8-12. Although clever and cute, they offer no way for players to interact with each other, let alone the game's own characters. [More]

”Meet Lost in a complex garden maze, you must help a family of four find each other to reunite safely. Meet In Ver. 0. There are four panels, one for each family member. Clicking on a panel will let you control the movements of that person using your arrow keys. You'll quickly find that all of them will run into dead ends right away and you'll need to work out where how one family member can use switches inside their section to open up barriers for another. If the music gets to you, just click on the speaker icon to turn it off. [More]

”3D From Chinese gardens to Egyptian pyramids, Frankenstein's castle to space stations and lighthouses, Photo! 3D Album is a free program you can download and install that you can use to create a virtual 3D gallery for your personal photos. Once you load the program and choose your gallery, you simply walk through the virtual space, clicking on the empty picture frames to add your own photos and comments. When you're done, you can share the 3D experience as a flash or HTML movie on your website, as self-running file you can e-mail to friends, or as a screensaver. It's quite impressive. [More]

”Apple It's the news many of us having been waiting for, and only just. Ted Rogers, President and Chief Executive Officer of Rogers Communications Inc. sent out this statement (literally while I was on the air this morning) - "We're thrilled to announce that we have a deal with Apple to bring the iPhone to Canada later this year. We can't tell you any more about it right now, but stay tuned". It's interesting to note that the parties have only, just now, signed a deal with each other. My guess is that we will see the iPhone arrive in the Fall in time for an early Christmas push. Rogers will have the benefit of the coming update in June along with the Apps Store. It might be too much to hope that they'll skip the original iPhone model and jump straight to the 3G iPhone expected and rumoured to be launched this summer in the States. [More]

During my waterproof gadgets segment this morning I made a comment that received an audible groan of disapproval from our hosts and crew, I had no idea at the time why and had to have it explained to me after the show. For those of you who watched the segment and might have been confused I'd like to offer my best explanation. While testing the waterproof OtterBox Armor case for the iPod Touch, I realized that you could use it to connect to the internet while under water. You could surf the net or exchange e-mails while taking a bath or even a shower.Standing in a shower stall, water streaming down all about me, and seeing my web browser fill up was, to my geeky sensibilities, "very cool". It meant that there was now yet-another-room in my home that I could connect online in. Something I had never thought I could do, I can. If I can find a nearby swimming pool that has Wi-Fi access I will happily jump in and sit on the bottom simply to surf the web and send out e-mails. If I had a hot tub, I would send out e-mails from it and change the signature to read "sent from my hot tub". To me this is a wonder and a delight. I mentioned this little discovery to [More]

”Mario It’s quite something to use a steering wheel in your own living room, especially when there’s nothing connected to it. With Mario Kart Wii Nintendo has sprinkled their motion magic onto their popular go kart party game and the results are just as you’d hope. Although there have been several poor attempts at a Wii racing game before (Excite Truck, Monster 4X4, and GT Pro Series are the ones I’ve tried and the last two both came packaged with a wheel attachment), Mario Kart and the special Wii Wheel included with it are the first to deliver an accurate, responsive experience that makes it feel like you’re really driving. When you use it with one of the game’s motorcycles [More]

”10In Foggy Flat you have but ten minutes to find ten gnomes. They are hidden about within the photograph, just click around to find them. Click on an area to zoom in and then click on the bottom of the screen to zoom back out. This is the first time in the series that I've actually found real people in the picture too (not that they are easy to find either). According to creator Matesuz Skutnik, the roof that the gnomes are hiding along belongs to one of the longest buildings in Europe. This is just one end of it. [More]
