Zandar The GreatHere your chance to perform an illusion on your friends, to be a magician, a mentalist if you will. Zandar The Great is an amusement park fortune teller with mystical powers. Impress you freinds by asking him personal questions and watch their reaction as he answers them correctly! Then let them try to figure it out. Oh, ahem, make sure to read the instructions first. The Transworld Halloween Trade Show caters to the theme park and haunted ride attaractions industry. My favorite part of the show is, naturally, the animatronic/robotic creatures pavillion. As today is Halloween, I thought it only right to assemble some clips of some of the best creatures from the 2007 edition of the show, held earlier this year in Chicago. Some of these movies might be too frightful for small viewers so please take care. Click "more" to see ALL the clips. [More]

RAZR 2After months of heavy hype filled with subway posters and TV commercials, the Motorola RAZR 2 is now, finally, actually, yes, no really, hitting stores. The Motorola RAZR2 V9 is even thinner than the original (2 mm) with, thankfully, a newly reinforced hinge (how many have you broken?) and new features including vision calling, bluetooth music streaming, support for satellite radio, mobile television, and high-speed web browsing. It still has the 2 MP camera and the front display screen for multimedia control while shut. And, of course, its available through Rogers first where its going for $200 for a three-year contract. Contineu on for full details and photos. [More]

Katy Towell's gothic, Burtonesque tales often feature odd little girls at the centre of very strange things and her latest story, Ida's Luck is no exception. When a little girl is found lost and roaming the streets alone, she is quickly adopted by a well-meaning woman who soon finds she's in for more than she bargained for. You can watch Part 2 as well as other strange videos at Katy's website. [More]

ILM Halloween Party 2007Industrial Light & Magic, director George Lucas' special effects company, throws an annual Halloween party and once again Flickr user Bonniegrrl was there to take snaps. You can see her collection here. You might need to be patient as there are plenty of Star Wars geeks online trying to access these photos too. I like the Swingline Stapler costume from the movie Office Space. Admittedly they're not as much fun as the photos from last year's party which you can see here. [More]

Chapters CommunityRather than launch a "What I'm Reading" application for Facebook or MySpace, Chapters/Indigo has launched their own social network built around book recommendations, reviews, and wish lists, all linked to their own inventory of course. once you click on the green "community" tab on their front page, you can create your own profile complete with photo, blog posts, and lots and lots of lists, including your favorites, top 10 lists, and recommendations for books, DVDs, and music albums. From there you can add friends, create or join a book club or similar group. The site has only just gone live recently and to kick things off, they've recruited a number of Canadian celebs to create profiles including Bret Hart, Rick Mercer, and our own Ben Mulroney. If there's one distasteful aspect it's that every community page is also a store page, you never leave the store menu at the top, a constant reminder that you're hear to shop as much as chat. [More]
