WikirageAt Wikipedia, anyone can create a new entry or edit an existing one, adding, erasing, or more commonly changing the encyclopedic entries the online resource offers. As you can image, there are certain entries that become the centre of editing battles, as two or more users of contrary views try to change a line or a piece of information to their way. Wikirage is a new website that lists the top pages on Wikipedia currently suffering the highest number of edits. The subject matter will surprise you. As I write this the most heated battle is taking place over the entry for "Houston, Texas" while the second entry is on the anime cartoon series "Naruto". Other hot topics include the Vancouver Canucks, Britney Spears' Fifth Studio Album, and John Cena. [More]

Worlds Tallest LEGO TowerIf you have any interest in checking out the record breaking LEGO Tower built at the CNE fairgrounds here in Toronto, this weekend is your last chance. Once Labour Day is over, LEGO Canada will be bringing in the crane to disassemble the 10 story-tall tower, brick by brick (over 500,000 bricks total). You can find the tower near the West end of the Food Building. Click here for a gallery of photos showing the tower as it was being built. [More]

Nintendo Canada 2007 Preview This year Nintendo Canada opted to skip the usual party format and hold a series of intimate, behind-closed-doors meetings with a select number of media reporters. As most of the games they showed were still unfinished, cameras of any kind were not allowed and so sadly I have no photos to offer. In addition to showcasing their own game titles for the Wii and Nintendo DS, they also flew in two representatives from outside publishers including Red Octane from California for a demonstration of Guitar Hero III and Ubi Soft from Montreal for a look at My Word Coach. Here’s what I got to play with [More]

Xbox Canada’s X07 Holiday EventIt was just a few hours into the day when the power suddenly went out and all eighty-nine screens, the largest collection of video game titles Microsoft Canada had ever brought together under one roof, went black. A car accident in the area had knocked down a hydro line, casting the Liberty Village section of Toronto into darkness and with it several rooms full of game designers, PC computers, Xbox 360 systems, and journalists. The annual night club-styled event is designed to give members of the media, from newspaper columnists to television hosts, a chance to see all of the video games coming out for the upcoming [More]

MuselockI've very pleased to present a new puzzle room that can be played in either French or English. In Muselock you find yourself captured, confused, and locked inside a strange room filled not just with challenging puzzles, but also a number of deadly traps. You'll need to be careful when pointing-and-clicking your way through this one as the wrong click could get you killed. The puzzles, as you're about to discover, are a little more complex than those of other puzzle rooms I've featured here before, at least in the sense of items that actually have hi-tech control panels. Can you find the exit? Click here to see the other puzzle rooms in this section and as always, you can e-mail me at krisabel@gmail.com for clues and hints [More]

There’s Only One SunGo figure. Philips commissioned and is hosting a short film by acclaimed director Wong Kar-Wai (Chungking Express, In The Mood For Love) as part of their new website for their Ambilight televisions. "There’s Only One Sun" stars Amelie Daure as a secret agent who is blinded in order to protect another's identity. The futuristic cinematography by Phillippe Le Sourd paints for us a glimpse of the world she sees with her senses, aided by a number of technical enhancements. As with most of Wong Kar-Wai's work, his story here explores themes of unrequited longing, haunted emotions, and memories explored by narration. Also on the website is a free download of the orchestral music used in the film (but sadly not the main song - Connie Francis' "Siboney" which was also used in Kar-Wai's "2046"). [More]

Towel AnimalsFor several years now, tourists aboard certain cruise lines have been suprised when they return to their cabins to be greeted by their towels, folded into the shape of a friendly animal. It's been knicknamed "Towel Origami" and cruise ship staff have been passing the art amongst themselves and with each new year seem to invent an entire new generation of animals or tricks to use to surprise their guests. Flickr is full of towel animal photos spotted on Carnival Cruise and other lines that practice it. Swans, elephants, rabbits, and snakes are the most common (usually wearing sunglasses). Lately some of the cruise staff have begun to add petals and other decorations. Recently one enterprising woman decided to launch a website devoted to instructional videos that show you how to make these towel animals yourself. She charges $1 per video and has a wide assortment too. If you want to try one out for free, click on "more" for the video instruction of "Eddie the Elephant". [More]
